Overview

This is a group of rare inherited conditions that affects connective tissue. This is commonly associated with a variety of headache disorders.

Symptoms & Diagnosis

Migraine is more common in women than men and in those with EDS. Chiari 1 Malformations has also been reported as a condition that can occur in hypermobile EDS. This is generally an incidental finding, however occasionally it can be associated with neurological symptoms and surgery is considered. Craniocervical and atlantoaxial instability have also been identified in EDS and these can result in headaches. The connective tissue problems seen in EDS can result in a variety of nervous system issues. Investigations include imaging and specialised tests by the wider Multidisciplinary team.
